How to activate Special Days

Three simple steps after purchase.

Complete purchase

Purchase via Polar's secure checkout. Your licence key is emailed to you instantly after payment.

Download & install

Download the .dmg (Mac) or .exe (Windows) installer from the thank-you page. Run it to install.

Enter your license key

Open Special Days. On first launch, enter your license key. That's it — the app is activated.

Setting up automatic iMessage alerts

On the day of a birthday, anniversary, or special event, Special Days sends a personalised iMessage to that person's iPhone — and an alert straight to yours. It uses Apple's built-in Messages app on your Mac. Free, instant, and nothing to sign up for.

Sign into iMessage on your Mac

Open the Messages app on your Mac and sign in with your Apple ID — the same account you use on your iPhone. This links both devices.

Add phone numbers in the app

In Special Days, open each person and add their iPhone number in international format — e.g. +61 400 123 456. This is where their birthday message will go.

Enable iMessage in Settings

Go to Settings → Messages in Special Days. Enable iMessage alerts, enter your name (signed on each message) and your iPhone number (to receive the daily alert).

Send a test message

Tap Send Test iMessage to My Phone. If it arrives on your iPhone, everything is working. From now on, every special day triggers the messages automatically when the app is open.

Milestone birthdays (30, 40, 50…) and anniversaries (10, 25, 50 years…) get a special mention in the message. Each message is sent once per day — you won't be double-notified. The app needs to be running on your Mac for messages to go out.

Frequently asked questions

One-time purchase. You pay once and own the app forever. No monthly fees, no renewals, no subscription. Future updates are free.
Each license key allows installation on up to 2 computers. If you need more, purchase an additional license. Contact support if you've replaced a computer and need to transfer your activation.
Yes. Your family data is stored entirely on your device. It does not sync to any cloud server and is not shared with us or any third party.
Yes. Special Days for Mac is a universal binary and runs natively on both Intel Macs and Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4, M5).
Your license key is emailed to you at the time of purchase. Check your inbox (and spam folder) for an email from us. If you still can't find it, contact us at sntapps1@gmail.com with your purchase receipt and we'll resend it.
Celebrations and Special Days are separate apps with separate data. They share the same design philosophy and feature set but do not currently sync data between them.

Messages fire once per event day when the app is running. Both the person and you receive messages at the same time.

If you have a problem with the app that we cannot resolve within 14 days of purchase, we will offer a full refund. Contact us at sntapps1@gmail.com. For Celebrations (App Store), refunds are handled by Apple.
